Why Is ReviOS Better Choice?
Unlike other projects, ReviOS provides a stable, long-term solution for a de-bloated Windows experience without compromising core system functionality.
Deeper Components Removal
Many debloating tools randomly rename or delete system files, disable random services, or apply untested registry tweaks. ReviOS, in contrast, uses a custom method to perform a deeper, more reliable removal of components at the WinSxS level. This results in a cleaner, more efficient system by eliminating bloatware at its core.
This is achieved by installing a custom Windows Update-like CAB package. The package tells Windows that a specific component, such as Microsoft-Windows-TelemetryClient
, has a newer version. Since the custom package is empty, Windows automatically uninstalls the component's files from C:\Windows
and the registry, and crucially, they do not get reinstalled by subsequent Windows Updates. The original files remain available in the C:\Windows\WinSxS
folder for repair purposes. If a custom package ever causes an issue, you can simply uninstall it, and Windows will automatically restore the removed WinSxS components.
Stability and Experience
With an active community and development history dating back to 2019, ReviOS is a battle-tested solution. The playbook is continuously refined to provide a stable and optimized experience that avoids common issues found in less mature projects.
Windows Update Compatibility
One of the most significant advantages of ReviOS is its full compatibility with Windows Updates. The system components removed at the WinSxS level are not reinstalled by Windows Update, unlike with other projects where removed components often reappear. This means you don't need to re-apply the playbook after every update, ensuring your system remains clean and stable over time.
Revision Tool
ReviOS includes its own dedicated tool that gives you full control over your system. Revision Tool provides a user-friendly interface, similar to Windows 11's Settings app, allowing you to re-enable disabled features, change power settings, and fine-tune your installation. It also includes a built-in MS Store, so LTSC users don't have to reinstall the original.
